Digimagaz.com – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is on the verge of completing a sensational transfer deal to acquire Ousmane Dembélé from Barcelona, according to sources familiar with the matter, as reported by ESPN.

The 26-year-old forward has been a target for the French champions for a considerable period of time, and it appears that the player has already reached an agreement to join PSG on a five-year contract.

Dembélé’s contract with Barcelona includes a release clause of €50 million ($55 million), which is valid until July 31st. After that date, the release clause is set to increase to €100 million. Despite having an extension offer on the table from Barcelona, sources suggest that Dembélé is more attracted to PSG’s project.

While some details remain to be ironed out, negotiations between the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, and Luis Campos, the sporting director of PSG, are said to be progressing positively.

Barcelona’s manager, Xavi, reportedly wants to retain Dembélé as he considers him a key player for the team. However, the club is aware that a substantial transfer fee from PSG could assist them in addressing their financial challenges.

Should Dembélé agree to the move and PSG fulfills the release clause payment, Barcelona would be unable to prevent the transfer from taking place.

Dembélé initially joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, in a deal worth €105 million. His tenure at Camp Nou has been hampered by injury issues, but he has managed to score 40 goals in 185 appearances for the LaLiga giants and has played a significant role in securing three LaLiga titles for the club.

If the deal goes through, Dembélé will be the latest addition to PSG’s already impressive squad, which has recently seen the arrivals of players such as Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lucas Hernández, Cher Ndour, Lee Kang-in, and their new manager, Luis Enrique.

Meanwhile, PSG is still embroiled in a contract dispute with star striker Kylian Mbappé. The player declined talks with the Saudi club Al Hilal, indicating that he prefers a move to Real Madrid. Sources suggest that progress on a potential deal with Real Madrid may materialize next month if Mbappé decides to leave PSG during this summer transfer window.
