Digimagaz.com – Inter Miami CF, the MLS team co-owned by David Beckham, has secured a significant signing by bringing former Barcelona defender Jordi Alba on board. The left-back, who left Barcelona at the end of the previous season, has agreed to join Inter Miami, where he will reunite with his former Camp Nou colleagues Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. Messi had earlier joined Inter Miami from Paris Saint-Germain, while Busquets made a direct move from Barcelona.
Jordi Alba’s arrival at Inter Miami comes after much speculation about his next destination, with rumors linking him to the Saudi Pro League. However, the talented defender opted for a move to the MLS instead.
During his illustrious 11-year stay at Barcelona, Jordi Alba made 459 appearances for the club, claiming six Liga titles and one Champions League trophy. His credentials as a top-tier left-back, having won accolades like the UEFA Euro, UEFA Champions League, and UEFA Nations League, make him a valuable addition to Inter Miami’s squad.
Inter Miami officially announced the signing on their website, revealing that Jordi Alba’s contract extends through the 2024 MLS season, with an option for the club to retain him for the 2025 season.
Chris Henderson, Inter Miami’s Chief Soccer Director, expressed excitement over the acquisition, highlighting Jordi Alba’s versatility and experience as key assets. Henderson believes that the defender’s defensive solidity and attacking prowess will contribute significantly to the team’s success not only this season but also in the future.
The Spanish national team defender is expected to join the Inter Miami squad in the upcoming days, as the team gears up to achieve its objectives with the help of this new star addition.
