Digimagaz.com – Premier League club Chelsea has secured the signing of French defender Axel Disasi from Monaco on a six-year contract, making him their sixth acquisition of the summer transfer window. The transfer fee for the versatile centre-back is reported to be £38.6 million.

Axel Disasi, a key figure for Monaco in Ligue 1 over the last three seasons, expressed his delight at joining the English giants. “It’s something I’ve been waiting for,” said Disasi. “I am so happy to be here, at this big club. I am really proud to be able to be a part of this great family, and I hope to achieve very big things here. To win titles. I will do everything I can to achieve those objectives. I am very ambitious.”

The 25-year-old defender’s rise in French football has been impressive, having come through the ranks with Paris FC and Reims before moving to Monaco in August 2020. His strong performances at the Principality club earned him a spot in the French national team, and he was part of the squad that reached the World Cup final in 2022. Disasi made a total of 129 appearances for Monaco, netting 12 goals during his time at the club.

Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, praised Disasi’s abilities and international recognition. They expressed their excitement about the defender taking the next step in his career with the London club. Disasi is the first defensive reinforcement to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Speaking about his playing style, Disasi explained, “I’m a defender who likes to properly look for the ball and win it back. The best way of anticipating the opposition player’s move is by being in the best position possible. I like to have the ball at my feet and play passes. I like interceptions, and I like to be aggressive with the opposition, to use my physicality.”

The Frenchman’s versatility is evident in his playing positions, as he has experience as a left-back, right-back, and in both central positions of a three-man defense. He has also showcased offensive capabilities, which excites the Chelsea faithful as they anticipate his contributions to the team.

Chelsea’s busy transfer window has seen the arrival of several other players, including Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo, and Diego Moreira.

The London club will kick off their Premier League campaign with a highly-anticipated clash against Liverpool on Sunday, August 13, where Axel Disasi could potentially make his debut in Chelsea colors.
