Digimagaz.com – In a significant move to bolster their goalkeeping options, Arsenal Football Club has initiated talks with Brentford FC over the potential transfer of Spanish shot-stopper David Raya. Reliable sources close to the negotiations have informed 90min that the Gunners are prepared to submit an offer that could come close to the lofty £40 million valuation set by Brentford for their star goalkeeper.

David Raya finds himself in the final year of his contract with the Gtech Community Stadium outfit, but he has expressed reluctance to commit to a new long-term deal with the Bees. Despite turning down multiple offers, Raya’s desire for a fresh challenge has been evident, and Brentford seems willing to entertain offers for the goalkeeper’s services this summer.

The Brentford hierarchy has made it clear that any interested club must meet their valuation of £40 million to secure the 26-year-old’s signature. Back in March, 90min was the first to report Brentford’s openness to potentially allowing Raya to leave on a free transfer next year, should a suitable deal not materialize during the current transfer window. Their resolve to hold firm on the asking price remains unchanged, even after securing the services of Mark Flekken from Freiburg.

Earlier in the summer, Tottenham Hotspur had engaged in discussions with Raya and agreed on personal terms. However, they ultimately shied away from Brentford’s demands and opted to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli instead. Bayern Munich, too, was linked with the Spanish goalkeeper but were deterred by the hefty price tag.

Arsenal’s interest in David Raya surfaced on Monday, with the added incentive that his signing would count towards the club’s homegrown player quota under both Premier League and UEFA regulations. The Gunners have since made progress in their pursuit and have reached a preliminary agreement with the player himself on personal terms for a potential contract.

Having secured Aaron Ramsdale as their first-choice goalkeeper, Arsenal envisions Raya as a worthy backup option. The Spanish international is reportedly open to accepting a secondary role at the Emirates Stadium, favoring the chance to join a top Premier League club.

Arsenal’s impending offer is expected to include a considerable sum of add-ons to reach Brentford’s valuation, given the club’s cautious approach in the transfer market. This development indicates that the North London club is eager to make a statement in their pursuit of silverware in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s current backup goalkeeper, Matt Turner, may be on the move. Representatives for the US Men’s National Team stopper are actively exploring potential exit routes from North London. Turner is keen on securing regular first-team football for the next campaign and has garnered interest from Nottingham Forest and several clubs in mainland Europe.

As the transfer window enters its crucial stages, all eyes will be on Arsenal and Brentford as they navigate negotiations over David Raya’s future. Should Arsenal’s offer satisfy Brentford’s demands, the transfer could be a significant coup for Mikel Arteta’s side, bolstering their squad depth and heightening their ambitions for the upcoming season
