Digital Magazine – Apple has officially unveiled the AirPods Pro 3, a significant step forward for its premium wireless earbuds. While the design remains familiar to long-time users, the latest generation brings meaningful internal upgrades that redefine how AirPods fit into daily life—whether for immersive listening, fitness tracking, or even real-time translation.

Stronger Noise Cancellation with Foam-Infused Ear Tips

Apple claims the AirPods Pro 3 deliver twice the noise reduction of the second-generation model and up to four times more than the original AirPods Pro. This leap is made possible through a combination of ultra-low noise microphones, improved computational audio, and redesigned ear tips.

The new tips retain a silicone exterior but now include foam injection, creating a snug seal that blocks high-frequency sounds such as human voices—an area where many competitors struggle. In real-world demos, the earbuds proved capable of muting conversations, airplane noise, and even the chaotic bustle of a crowded showroom.

Live Translation Expands AirPods’ Role

One of the standout features is Live Translation, enabled by iOS 26 and the H2 chip. Similar to Google’s Pixel Buds, the feature relies on a connected iPhone for processing via the Translate app. Once activated, users can simply hold the earbuds or use Siri to start translating conversations in real time.

During demonstrations, spoken Spanish was quickly converted into English and delivered through the earbuds. While a slight delay exists, the integration of ANC ensures translations are crystal clear by suppressing the original speaker’s voice in the background.

This functionality is not exclusive to the AirPods Pro 3—it also extends to the AirPods Pro 2 and upcoming AirPods 4 with ANC, broadening its impact across Apple’s audio ecosystem.

Heart-Rate Monitoring for Workouts

Apple has also integrated a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor into the AirPods Pro 3, enabling heart-rate tracking during workouts. While the data is limited to the Fitness app for now, it works seamlessly with Apple’s suite of sensors, including accelerometers, GPS, and gyroscopes, to support up to 50 types of workouts.

Early tests showed live heart rate, pace, and calorie burn displayed directly during exercise. This addition positions AirPods Pro 3 as more than just earbuds—they’re now wearable health companions.

Enhanced Audio and Acoustic Engineering

Apple continues its tradition of fine-tuning acoustics with a redesigned venting system and an updated driver structure. The new airflow design improves bass depth, expands the soundstage, and enhances overall clarity.

During testing, tracks such as Maggie Rogers’ Alaska showcased richer textures and instrument separation, offering listeners a more immersive experience compared to the AirPods Pro 2.

Availability and Price

The AirPods Pro 3 are priced at $249 and are currently available for preorder through Apple and major retailers, with official release set for September 19, alongside the iPhone 17 lineup and new Apple Watch models.

Final Take

The AirPods Pro 3 mark a turning point for Apple’s wireless earbuds. By combining next-level noise cancellation, real-time language translation, fitness tracking, and improved sound engineering, they are no longer just an accessory for iPhones—they are becoming a multi-purpose personal device.

With these upgrades, Apple is pushing AirPods beyond music and calls, turning them into essential everyday tools for communication, health, and productivity.
